RUN 4 KIDS
Thank You to all of those who entered and to those who attended. The day was a huge success as we managed to raise a grand total of $13,088.80
How the Program Works
The Run 4 Kids program is for anyone preparing for The Central Coast Half Marathon, or the 10k fun run on November 28. The program starts on Wednesday October 6 and will run for eight weeks leading into the event.
The program is run by Nicole Hackett and Keiran Barry. Nicole is a former olympian, triathlon world champion and commonwealth games medallist. Keiran has a degree in exercise science, twenty years experience training from absolute beginners through to Olympic level.
For eight weeks we commit to helping you achieve your goals, whether that be to walk your first 10k or run a PB in the 21k half marathon. In return we ask for no money. We are happy to give you our time and experience for free - we just ask that you raise some money for the Central Coast Kids in Need charity. Pretty simple really.
As a participant in the program you will receive
- Two fully supervised training sessions a week, i.e. a track session each Wednesday night at Mingara and an endurance run each Saturday morning along the lake front
- A training program to follow for other sessions
- Race tips and nutritional advice
- A Run 4 Kids T-Shirt or Singlet
- The opportunity to improve your fitness, achieve a personal goal and train in a fun, positive, supportive environment, all while raising money for a worthwhile cause.
You will be divided into groups based on your fitness level, training experience and race goals. No matter what your experience or current fitness level, we will be able to look after you; as we cater from absolute novice to experienced competitor.
We will give you all our knowledge and support, to ensure you get the result you want. Oh yeah and by the way – be prepared to have lots of fun along the way.
Raising Money
Many people are uncomfortable about asking for money, but it is important to remember that you are not asking for money for yourself; you’re asking for money to help kids in need.
We do ask you to take the fundraising seriously, just as we take your training seriously, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with both. We will give you plenty of ideas on how you can raise the money and all the help we can because we want you to be successful in raising at least your minimum fundraising goal. However, there is no limit – the more you raise, the more you will be helping sick kids and their families.
So what is your fundraising minimum? All we ask for your 16 training sessions, eight-week training program, T-Shirt and all the extras, is that you raise $290. That can be as simple as ten thirty dollar pledges from friends, family or work colleagues but don’t limit it to that. There are loads of ways to raise the money and we’ll give you plenty of tips once the program starts.
Bring a Friend
Getting together with a friend is a great way to motivate each other with your training and fundraising. Help each other stay on track and make the entire experience even more fun and successful.
